FuneralVerses

About FuneralVerses

FuneralVerses exists for one reader: someone with a funeral this week, a blank page, and very little time. Everything here — the eulogy examples, the poems and readings, the eulogy builder — is free to read, copy, and adapt. There are no sign-ups, no paywalls, and no download gates between you and the words you need.

Who edits this site

FuneralVerses is edited by Taro Schenker, a writer and web publisher who researches, checks, and maintains every page on this site — verifying poem authorship and copyright status, sourcing scripture from public-domain translations, and shaping the writing guidance around what actually helps a nervous speaker at a lectern. The site is published by Known By One, LLC, 131 Continental Dr, Suite 305, Newark, Delaware 19713, United States.

Editorial standards

  1. Provenance is checked. Funeral poems are notorious for misattribution. We research authorship for every poem we feature and say plainly when the history is disputed.
  2. Copyright is respected. We reproduce full poem texts only when they are in the public domain. Copyrighted poems get a short quoted excerpt, an honest discussion of the work, and a pointer to where to find the full text legitimately.
  3. Examples are realistic, not real. Sample eulogies use invented names and details. They are written to be adapted, and you are welcome to do so freely.
  4. Pages carry review dates, and corrections are made when readers point out errors.

If you spot a mistake — an attribution, a date, a verse — we want to know, and we will fix it.
